Teresa & Francis

My sister has been making fun of me for awhile, because I bought DVDs about Mother Teresa and Francis of Assisi. I think they were amazing people and want to learn more about them. Plus, I have an addiction to buying DVDs and these seemed more worthwhile than many others I could have bought. So I finally watched the one about Mother Teresa, simply called Mother Teresa. I really liked the simplicity with which she lived life and served her Lord. The movie had this prayer in it, and after some research, I discovered that it is actually a prayer by Francis of Assisi.

Peace Prayer

Lord make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, may I bring hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, let me bring Joy.

Lord, I long to console rather than to be consoled;
To understand, rather than to be understood;
To love rather than to be loved.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in forgiving that we are forgiven,
And it is in dying that we are
Born to eternal life.

Wikipedia even says that Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity (the nuns that worked with her) began each day with the prayer. I love that!
