Hit the Road Jack

Road trips are great for good music and funny memories. Of course there was the speeding ticket in northern Missouri, or the run away tire coming home from New Mexico. Anyone remember the stitches in my finger when I didn't have to do the dishes? That was pretty sweet. Last summer with my sisters and tie-dyed shirts. Crazy driving with my brothers. Dad's late nights when we were all kids.
A favorite childhood disobedience story: as usual, we were camper-ing across the US. Children in the back (sweltering hot in the sun and bored from long hours on the road) and parents in the front. I don't remember if someone else brought the idea up or if it was just me, but I voiced the idea of snack time. Mom gave some excuse and turned me down. I immediately stuck my tongue out at her forward facing body. "Claire!" Oh no! I was caught-Dad was looking at me in the rear view mirror and saw the whole thing. I was sooo busted. =( We had been given a roll of dimes for our spending money on the trip, and my punishment was to lose my whole roll. Sad.
Tomorrow I'm off on another road trip, but this time to the Northwest. Friends, a baby and three great days in a car. Should be good!
