A Leaver

J and I have been talking about takers and leavers recently.

Takers use and abuse. They dominate and cultivate for selfish reasons. maybe a heart like Cain.
Leavers cultivate and replenish, knowing that they are part of a greater system. Leavers pay attention to their surroundings. Maybe a heart more like Able.

I am finding many joys in our yard and garden this year (as well as plenty of challenges). but i feel more like a Leaver-paying attention to my surroundings and trying to be grateful and resourceful.

i found this blurb about a woman that i kinda want to steal:
With my better half (husband's name) I am seeking to cultivate a more meaningful, satisfying lifestyle by growing more of what we eat, making more of what we want and celebrating the simple pleasures: food, friends, family and life.

After visiting small town Palisade Colorado last week, J and i had a lot of conversations about life in small towns versus the city. Growing, making and celebrating the simple pleasures is often what i connect to small town life. I know it can be done everywhere, but it just isn't easy.

As my classes have ended, i am spending a lot more time in the garden. and hoping to continue to pursue a lifestyle that celebrates the simple pleasures.

And someday, I'm going to get my sewing machine from circa 1961 looked at and fixed (hopefully).
