Thanks, Megan.
Anyone recognize this bigger leafed, four or five woody stalked plant?!?
While digging the hole, an area of about two square feet or less, i removed this pile of stuff from the dirt.
I get pretty frustrated and sad and mad when i pull this stuff out of my dirt. About half of it's rusty and the other half is sharp, jagged broken sheets of glass or bottles or otherwise. The golf ball actually came from a neighbor's yard. And, a lot of this stuff was not just at the surface, but about a foot down! How?!?! and why?!?!
Sigh. About then, i remember, that gardening and life are not all that different. Sometimes there is a lot of stuff to get out, to get to the good stuff. Sometimes it has been left behind by others, sometimes it's junk on loaner from someone close to you, sometimes the junk just comes natural to me.
And compost and fertilizer and water and the right amount of love and sunlight just don't always cut it if there is junk in the dirt.
So i dig, and make piles in my yard. slowly but surely getting the junk out piece by piece, just like i try to do with my heart and my life. piece by piece.
Other successes that have happened so far:
My first crop from the garden: delicious radishes!
A view of the veggie patch (plus the weeds).
Day lilies-gifted to me through a friend, from her neighbor. I love the color they bring!Hiding hollyhock color!
Sweet peas for my Merrell.
Larkspur from seeds saved from Brighton!
The happy gardener.
So, I'm cleaning my dirt.
Sometimes this work is messy.
And I'm trying to have patience with it and life.
