On my way home today

The most interesting part of my day today.... wasn't all that fun. or interesting.

On my way home from work, i saw a woman i know waiting for the bus. she only lives a minute or so past my house and so i circled the block to pick her up. By the time i came back around, she had gotten on the bus. So, i sat at the light and waited to proceed home. the light turned green and i progressed through the intersection. about halfway down the block, i happened to check my rear view mirror, and missed seeing the woman in front of me trying to stop to find parking.

who knew airbags were smoky and so intense!?
so this little Betsy is probably going to retire.  It may be hard to tell, but her front bumper is definitely concave. just enough so that unknown liquids were leaking out. =(
And one of her eyeballs is hanging out. =(

Both airbags came out! and it was smoky and stinky! i tucked the driver side kinda back in to clean out my car, but the passenger side...you can kinda see here.
my amazing husband was there ASAP. (It was only about 500 yards from our house!) He thought these broken pieces might be important pieces to the puzzle of my car.
I'm in one piece. my arms took the brunt of the force. pictures don't do it justice. but the paramedic said it looked like airbag burn. really-you can get airbag burn!?! well, it's stinging now. and I'm sure the bruising will be beautiful tomorrow.
I can be grateful. for so many things.
For example, the other woman seems to be in pretty good shape too. and i can be grateful that my driving record has been clear for many years. and i can be grateful that little Betsy was pretty old. I can be grateful that i got a rental car already! and, I'm grateful for so many other things.
I went to clean her out this afternoon, cause from the initial information, my insurance thinks she might be totaled. (probably cause she is so old and not worth that much?) so Betsy and I had an informal goodbye. and i asked for help in getting my license plates off. cause i want to keep those things! so....that's what happened on my way home today.
