Ambivalence

So some of the main people i hang out with every week include: Dan, Dwight, Christy, and Roy.

This past week Dan was talking about ambivalence.

ambivalence ~noun
1. uncertainty or fluctuation, esp. when caused by inability to make a choice or by a simultaneous desire to say or do two opposite or conflicting things.
2. Psychology. the coexistence within an individual of positive and negative feelings toward the same person, object, or action, simultaneously drawing him or her in opposite directions.

3. The coexistence of opposing attitudes or feelings, such as love and hate, toward a person, object, or idea.

Dan went on to say that somehow we need to live in ambivalence, holding two opposing attitudes. this is not done easily.

what about this practical application: holding a beer in one hand and a mug of tea in the other?
