It's been a minute.
I got a new job. and I'm so thankful. For a job. For coworkers who care deeply about helping children. For a supervisor who is very encouraging. For a paycheck that more accurately reflects my effort. For children who open their hearts and share a little bit of their world with me.
And then i fell off the face of the planet.
Only sort of.
I can't remember the last time I checked my email.
And i haven't posted since.... August. geez.
So, if you have a glass of Noah & Em's homemade mead, grab it and join me!
The garden has frozen. There a couple of tomato and eggplants still holding on, but the vines are wilted. I pulled out wire cages today. I thought about cutting corn stalks for Fall decorations....didn't get to it.
I dug up about 1/4 of my bulbs that needed transplanting and have been sharing them around.
I'm worried that the lilac bush is dead....i put mulch around the base, and it just kept looking worse and worse.
Sigh. I hope not.
Work is good, but i have been really overwhelmed. It's settling some.
This past week was parent teacher conferences and i went to most of my kids meetings to catch up with parents and hear how kids are doing.
I'm having a lot of firsts.
Like, the first time i had to call child protective services. on my birthday.
And the first time i got "fired" by a kid. Basically saying things like I don't ever want to see you again. sigh. We are back to being friends now. I'm thankful.
and this is the biggest caseload I've ever had, and some of the first times I've talked with kids about....a lot of things.
My first school pictures as the school therapist/counselor. and my first business card as a therapist!
so. yeah.
Lots of learning is going on. and I'm working to find healthy practices in taking time for myself and getting my work done.
I already passed my goal to read more books this year than last, but i have also read a lot of kids books this year, so now my goal is to read more pages than i did last year. I've already started my next book that i think is going to pass last years number.
J is loving school and I'm real proud of him.
We carved pumpkins yesterday. Only one of the pictures is uploading. argh.
